FarmTogether Strengthens Underwriting and Farm Management Capabilities with Two Strategic Hires

Senior Investment Team Expansion
FarmTogether today announced the addition of two senior investment professionals to strengthen its underwriting discipline, portfolio management, and on-the-ground farm oversight capabilities—particularly as the firm seeks expansion opportunities in permanent crops across the West Coast. David Miller joins as Senior Farmland Manager, and Bryan David joins as Senior Associate, Investments.
As global capital continues to seek exposure to productive, income-generating real assets, permanent crops such as almonds, pistachios, citrus, and apples remain a focal point within the U.S. farmland landscape. FarmTogether believes disciplined underwriting, experienced farm management, and institutional portfolio construction are critical to navigating this segment effectively.
"Permanent crops require deep operational expertise, rigorous underwriting, and active asset management,” said David Gould, CEO of FarmTogether. “The addition of David and Bryan strengthens our ability to evaluate opportunities thoughtfully and manage assets with precision.”
David Miller — Senior Farmland Manager
David Miller brings more than 15 years of experience managing global real asset and natural capital portfolios.
Prior to joining FarmTogether, Mr. Miller served as Head of Timberland Portfolio Management at Nuveen Natural Capital, a TIAA company, where he directed a $2B+ global portfolio spanning the United States, Europe and South America. In that role, he led portfolio strategy, valuation oversight, and investor engagement, and played a key role in more than $1.5B of institutional fundraising.
Previously, he served as Managing Director and Head of GreenWood Resources Portfolio Management and held earlier leadership roles within GreenWood Resources, a TIAA company. He began his career in finance with Deutsche Bank in London, beginning as an Associate in the equity capital markets group and Vice President in equity corporate finance, specializing in private placements of equity and credit-linked structures and pre-IPO fundraising.
In addition to his institutional investment background, Mr. Miller is a fourth-generation owner-operator of his family’s farm in the sustainable agroforestry space, bringing firsthand agricultural operating experience to his role overseeing farmland underwriting and farm management.
Mr. Miller holds an MBA from IESE Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
Bryan David — Senior Associate, Investments
Bryan David joins FarmTogether with a background spanning sustainable finance, water resource strategy, and investment analysis—an increasingly critical intersection in permanent crop investing.
Prior to joining FarmTogether, Mr. David served as an Associate at WestWater Research, a leading advisory firm focused on water rights, water markets, and water asset valuation. At WestWater, he analyzed water rights transactions, conducted financial and regulatory diligence, and evaluated water supply risk on behalf of agricultural, municipal, industrial, and environmental clients throughout the western United States. His work focused on long-term water availability, pricing dynamics, infrastructure asset management, and regulatory impacts—key underwriting variables in permanent crop regions.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Blue Access LLC, where he conducted due diligence and financial analysis on growth equity investments in the water and environmental infrastructure sectors.
At FarmTogether, Mr. David supports underwriting, transaction execution, and portfolio analytics, with a particular focus on water risk evaluation, irrigation infrastructure assessment, and financial modeling across farmland acquisitions.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, where he concentrated in Water Resources Management. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University in Environmental Studies and History.
Strengthening Permanent Crop Expertise
Permanent crops across the West Coast require specialized expertise in water management, operator selection, cost structure analysis, and long-term yield optimization. By expanding its investment and farm management bench with experienced institutional professionals and water specialists, FarmTogether continues to reinforce its underwriting framework and asset-level oversight capabilities.
